Jason Matthew Schaal was born to Donald D. Schaal (born 1948) and Beverly A. (Stephens) Schall (born 1948). He had siblings Jeffrey and Jeremy Schaal. Jason never married. Jason Schaal was a history teacher at Circleville High School and served as the Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. He was previously a junior high teacher in Circleville. Jason graduated Logan Elm High School in 1988 and was also a 1993 graduate of Ohio University. When he died, he was attending graduate school at the University of Missouri.

His funeral service was held in the auditorium of Circleville High School, where he taught history.

Jason was a history teacher and coached Varsity girl's basketball and track. Previous to teaching at the high school level, he was a junior high teacher in Circleville.

The following obituary was published in the Chillicothe Gazette (Chillicothe, Ohio) on Saturday, February 8, 2003 on page 5: JASON M> SCHAAL Jason M. Schaal, age 32, of Circleville, died unexpectedly Friday, February 7, 2003, at Grant Hospital, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born August 13, 1970, in Angola, Indiana, son of Don and Beverly (Stephens) Schaal, of Circleville. Jason was a 1988 graduate of Logan Elm High School; a 1993 graduate of the Ohio University and was currently studying at the graduate level through the University of Missouri. He was a junior high teacher in Circleville for several years before becoming a history teacher at Circleville High School for the past two years where he also served as the Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. He especially loved playing golf. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Dorothy Stephens. He is survived by his parents; brothers, Jeff (Carrie) Schaal of Bainbridge, and Jeremy (Jamie) Schaal, of Circleville; grandparents, Doyne and Pauline Schaal, of Circleville. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2003, in the auditorium of Circleville High School, 380 Clark Dr. Circleville, with Dr. Doyne N. Wiggins officiating. Interment to follow at Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at the Defenbaugh-Wise- Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville.
