Jean Jennie Kelczewski of Schenectady, New York United States was born in 1918 in Schenectady to Franciszek Kelczewski and Wladyslaw (Zarzyska) Kelczewski. She had siblings Walter Kelczewski, Julie Ann (Kelczewski) Dunham, Alexander Kelczewski, Sally (Kelczewski), Frank W Kelczewski Wayne, Anthony "Tony" Wayne, and Stephanie Sackett. Jean Kelczewski died at age 18 years old in December 1936.

In 1918, in the year that Jean Jennie Kelczewski was born, on November 11th, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany, ending the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. This meant a complete defeat of Germany although Germany never formally surrendered. It took another six months of negotiations to sign an actual peace treaty between the warring parties.

In 1920, she was only 2 years old when in September, a bomb exploded in the J.P. Morgan bank building in New York City, killing 30 people immediately - 8 later died due to their injuries - and injuring another 200. Killing more people than the 1910 bombing of the LA Times (the deadliest terrorist act up until then), no one took responsibility and the perpetrators were never found. Italian anarchists were suspected of the bombing.
