Obituary AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Maron Catholic Church for Jeanne R. Saadey, 85, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, at her home with her children and grandchildren by her side. Jeanne was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Canton, the daughter of Joseph M. and Margaret E. (Elum) Abraham. She attended Ursuline High School and graduated from St. Mary Academy in Monroe, Mich., where she majored in Language and Fine Arts. Upon graduation, she attended Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pa. as an Art student, and later graduated summa cum laude from Youngstown State University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She studied at Kent State University under the Master of Arts program. Jeanne was a celebrated and well accomplished artist who began her career at the age of 14. Her love for the arts will live on forever within her paintings. She was honored as Northeast Ohio Artist of the Year. Her works have been exhibited at the Butler Institute of American Art, and will continue to be displayed at the Upstairs Restaurant and Saadey's Place, both located in Austintown. Jeanne enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with her family and friends at her Art studio. She was a gourmet cook and loved entertaining family and friends weekly at her home. Jeanne married her husband, Russell J. Saadey in 1951, and they celebrated their honeymoon in Havana, Cuba. "Russ" and Jeanne were in the real estate development business, and she recently opened Chippers Practice Range and Phil's 4494 Store, both located in Austintown. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Russell J. Saadey; son George "Chipper" Saadey; sister Joan (Abraham) Lonsway; and brother Phillip Abraham. Jeanne is survived by her six children and 14 grandchildren, Jody (James) Sabatine (James Jr., Jeana and Joey), Russell J. "Champ" Saadey Jr. (Russell J. III, Ashley B. and Sabrina J.), Joe Saadey, Anthony P. Saadey (Anthony P. Jr.), Missy (Michael) Malvasi (Michael II, Giana and Mia), and Phillip E. Sr. (Jen) Saadey (Merissa J., Phillip E. II, Jasmine J. and Giancarlo A.); four sisters, Barbara (Robert) Nelson of Washington, D.C., Peggy (Eli) Saadi, Maureen (Frank) Horvath, and Susan Abraham; and many nieces and nephews. "The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all extended family members, doctors and caregivers who gave our mother excellent and compassionate care." Memorial donations may be made to St. Maron Church, Antonine Sisters, or the Butler Institute of American Art. Professional arrangements were handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
