Jehuda Burg - my dear, sweet “ABBA” - father in Hebrew - was born in Romania and suffered terribly during WWII - losing his entire family - surviving the war as a very young child with no one to assist him- he always said that he gad a third grade education in Chader- the Yiddish school - as when the war broke out he could obviously not continue with his formal education but my smart clever and self-made father was one who was always learning - spoke multiple languages- Romanian, Yiddish, Russian, Yugoslavic/Lithuanian/Polish and later fluent Hebrew and then English - as a young child I would witness him practicing his English writing skills and even had the pleasure of going to nite school together with my father as he “earned” his GED - believe me - he could have taught each of those classes - a wiz in math and history - to name a few! But he never made any of his teachers feel that he was wiser than them - he would just quietly n kindly - sometimes jokingly - fill me in as he spoke to me in Hebrew so the teacher wouldn’t feel insulted ... they just assumed that he was asking me for additional directions! IF they only knew!!!
