Jeptha Walker Harbin was born to Gibson Nathaniel Harbin (1869 - 1949) and Mary Ama Smithwick (1874 - 1945). He had siblings Susie Ione, Aquilla Neill, Duffie, and (private sister) Harbin. He also had one half-sibling, Arthur Alonzo Harbin (1895 - 1963). Jeptha Harbin married Loraine Cantrell (1916 - 2014) on July 22, 1933 and they had daughter Anna Loraine Harbin (1946 - 2019).
