Gerald Eugene Bruce - Jerry E. Bruce - was born to Harold Nicholas Bruce (1906 - 1997) and Harriet Lenore Luhrs (1914 - 1990). Both parents were born in South Dakota. Jerry had three siblings, two brothers, James (1934 - 2012) and Merle, and a sister, Sharon R. Bruce. Jerry Bruce married Ronica "Ronnie" Jean Anderson on July 20, 1956 in Lane County, Oregon and they had three children, Jim, Todd, and Jill. See Jerry E Bruce: Obituary.

Jerry was Caucasian. Both of his parents were born in South Dakota.

A native of Woodland, Washington, and raised in the state of Washington, Jerry moved his family to Douglas County, Oregon, from Sacramento, California in 1980 and immediately immersed himself in the community. He died of cancer at the age of 68 in Roseburg, Oregon.

When Jerry married Ronica in 1956, he stated that he was a salesman. The newspaper article about their marriage said that he was a "factory representative of a national paint company." Later in life, Jerry owned several car dealerships, as well as Kemco Leasing Company and Douglas County Forest Products.

Jerry married Ronnie and they had three children. He was survived by seven grandchildren, as well. He was active in the Big Brother program, United Way, Ford Family Foundation and March of Dimes. He also served on committees that raise money for the local YMCA, Mercy Medical Center, Boy Scouts and Umpqua Community College, among others.

Community leader Jerry Bruce, 68, dies ROSEBURG - Jerry Bruce, a prominent businessman and community leader, died Thursday night after a battle with cancer. He was 68. "You'll never meet a person that's more dedicated or more moral than Jerry Bruce," said Dave Gilbert, a longtime friend. "As far as a legacy in our community, his name is associated with too many projects. You couldn't even list them all." Bruce moved his family to Douglas County from Sacramento, California in 1980 and immediately immersed himself in the community. He was active in the Big Brother program, United Way, Ford Family Foundation and March of Dimes. He also served on committees that raise money for the local YMCA, Mercy Medical Center, Boy Scouts and Umpqua Community College, among others.
