Sports Team Owner. He played a significant role in bringing Major League Baseball to Denver, Colorado. While attending the University of Colorado's School of Business, he purchased a small trucking company (Nationsway Transportation) which would evolve into a 400 million dollar entity. During the early 1990s, McMorris joined forces with Governor Roy Romer to bring a Major League franchise to "Mile High City", thus resulting in the Colorado Rockies. His efforts in maintaining the group partnership assured the reality of this happening. McMorris served as their first president and chairman (1993 to 2001), and during his tenure he oversaw the construction of Coors Field. In addition, he was the head of the committee which paved the way for Bud Selig's placement as baseball commissioner. In 2001, he was succeeded as team president, chairman and CEO by former professional football player Keli McGregor.
