Jessie Estell of Fultondale, Jefferson County, Alabama was born on January 12, 1911 in Birmingham to Joe and Ella Tyler Estell. He had siblings Bessie M Lindsey and Vester, Willie and Arthur Kennedy, Jessie Estell, Elmer Estell, Velma Markus, James Estell, Mary Wade, Earl Estell. He married Cora Lee Painter Estell, and had a child Jessie Roman Estell, Jr, Bobby Estell, Billy Estell, Evelyn Anderson, James Estell and Tommy Estell. Jessie Estell died at age 64 years old on November 23, 1975 in Birmingham, and was buried on November 25, 1975 at Ridout's Forest Hill Cemetery 431 60th St N, in Birmingham.

    He was a very loving father, grandfather and husband. He always put me and my wants/needs ahead of anyone elses. I was the ring leader of all the cousins and he would sit everyone of them in corners and hold and rock me and called me his little baby angel. I was the trouble maker.

In 1911, in the year that Jessie Roman Estell was born, the United States Supreme Court broke up Standard Oil in May. John D. Rockefeller established Standard Oil in 1870 and it was the largest oil refinery at the time. The Supreme Court found that Standard Oil of New Jersey (one of the many iterations of Standard Oil) was guilty of "monopolizing the petroleum industry through a series of abusive and anticompetitive actions". The Court broke up the several entities that comprised Standard Oil and they eventually became competing firms.

In 1924, by the time he was merely 13 years old, J. Edgar Hoover, at the age of 29, was appointed the sixth director of the Bureau of Investigation by Calvin Coolidge (which later became the Federal Bureau of Investigation). The Bureau had approximately 650 employees, including 441 Special Agents. A former employee of the Justice Department, Hoover accepted his new position on the proviso that the bureau was to be completely divorced from politics and that the director report only to the attorney general.
