JOE HUGHES BRASSTOWN - Joe Hughes, 62, died Monday in a Hiawassee, Georgia, hospital after a long illness. A native of Clay County, he was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee from Timken Roller Bearing Company in Ohio. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lillian Tucker Hughes; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Franklin of Warne, Mrs. Pauline Stalcup of Blivar, Ohio and Mrs. Annie Mae Watkins of Blairsville, Georgia; and a brother, Ernest Hughes of Charleston, South Carolina. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wenesday in Hickory Stand United Methodist Church. The Reverend Emerson Davenport and the Reverend Roscoe Spivey will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.
