    JOE HUGHES BRASSTOWN - Joe Hughes, 62, died Monday in a Hiawassee, Georgia, hospital after a long illness. A native of Clay County, he was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee from Timken Roller Bearing Company in Ohio. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lillian Tucker Hughes; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Franklin of Warne, Mrs. Pauline Stalcup of Blivar, Ohio and Mrs. Annie Mae Watkins of Blairsville, Georgia; and a brother, Ernest Hughes of Charleston, South Carolina. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wenesday in Hickory Stand United Methodist Church. The Reverend Emerson Davenport and the Reverend Roscoe Spivey will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers. The body will remain at Townson Funeral Home, Murphy, until place in the church for the services. - Asheville Citizen-Times (Asheville, North Carolina) Wednesday, March 12, 1969 on page 5.
