On June 13, 1956, Johann departed Hamburg, Germany, and arrived in New York, New York, USA on June 14, 1956. He settled in Marlette, Sanilac County, Michigan, United States of America. Johann passed away on May 1, 1991, at the age of 84 in Marlette, Michigan, and was laid to rest there.
