He married Maureen (Manning) Zawislak, and they were married until Maureen's death. They had children Judy Ann (Zawislak) Sauer, John Zawislak Ill, and Robin (Zawislak) Sinor. He married Joan Zawislak, and they were married until John's death on April 9, 2014.

John Zawislak, II (Cookie), 79, of Greenacres, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Cookie was born in Newark, New Jersey on April 6, 1935 to the late John and Mae Zawislak (Cawley). He was retired from the New York Daily News. He was preceded in death by wife of 35 years, Maureen (Manning) and his sister, Charlotte. Cookie was the co-founder and coach of the Pop Warner Iselin Giants and was a volunteer Mountainside fireman. Prior to retiring to Florida, Cookie resided with his family in Manahawkin, NJ. Cookie leaves behind his second wife, Joan; he was a loving father to son, John and his companion Teresa; daughters, Judy (Zawislak) and Gary Sauer, Robin (Zawislak) and Randy Sinor. Cookie also leaves behind 3 stepdaughters, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral mass at St. Francis church, Brant Beach, NJ will be held on May 10th at 11:30 a.m.ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
