He had siblings Colin James (1926-1950), Rilda Elsie Priscilla (1927-2011), and Vida Gladys Catchpool (born 1929). He married Kathleen Brigett Rhyberg (1924-1979) in 1946 in Victoria, Australia. They were parents to children Keith, Frank, and Patricia Catchpool. Their son Keith did not survive, he was born on April 27, 1949 in Hotham, County of Bourke, Melbourne, Victoria Australia and he passed away on June 22, 1950 in Parkville, Victoria, Australia.
