    Son of John Cuthbert Hoey and Agnes Hoey (formerly Dockerty). Killed in action on Tuesday 28th April 1918 aged 18 in the battle of Aisne no body was found. Brother of Joseph born 1901, Patrick, James, George, Mary 1923-2014 my Grandmother who was married to William Flett. Agnes Hoey (married James Milburn). Thomas Bernard Hoey (born 18/12/1905 who was a Corporal in the Irish Guards army no 4264481 married Katherine Olive Eggleton on 26/04/1930

In 1900, in the year that John Cuthbert Hoey was born, the Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud published his book (written in 1899) "The Interpretation of Dreams". In 1910, when he was only 10 years old, the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated. U.S. publisher W.D. Boyce was visiting England when he became lost in the London fog. An unknown Boy Scout helped him find his way out, declining a tip (he said that he was a Boy Scout and was doing his good deed for the day). Boyce was so impressed that he incorporated the Boy Scouts of America when he returned home. Its purpose was "to teach boys patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred values."
