His father Salvatore Falsetti was born on October 1, 1889 in Balestrate, Palermo, Sicilia, Italy. He first married Giuseppa Taormina (1892–1918) on February 20, 1912 in Balestrate, Palermo, Sicilia, Italy and they had a daughter Rosa Falsetti (1914-1985). He then immigrated to the US around 1920 and married Antonina "Lena" Sardo (1894–1981) on April 15, 1922 at the Church of San Francesco in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, USA. He passed away on July 28, 1976 in Lincoln Park, Wayne, Michigan. His mother Antonina "Lena" Sardo was born on February 8, 1894 in Linguaglossa, Catania, Sicilia, Italy and immigrated from Genoa, Italy aboard the Ship "Taormina" and arrived in New York, USA at the age of 28 on August 12, 1921. She resided in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan and passed away in Livonia, Wayne, Michigan on June 15, 1981.

In 1922, in the year that John Falsetti was born, on James Joyce's 40th birthday, his book Ulysses was published in France. The book covers the experiences of an Irishman in Dublin on an ordinary day, 16 June 1904. Now considered a classic, it was controversial at the time. Due to some sexual content, the book was banned in the U.S. during the 1920's and the U.S. Post Office destroyed 500 copies of the novel.
