He had siblings Bridget Mary Scanlan, William Mich Scanlon, Evelene Maria Scanlan, Ellen Catherine Scanlan, Leila Margaret Scanlan, Agnes Iris Scanlan, Philip Danaher, Veronica Joseph Scanlan, Thomas Patrick Scanlan, and Joseph Bernard Scanlan. John Scanlan died at age 18 years old in 1915 in Fitzroy South.
