John Francis Terrier of Geelong Australia was born in 1875 in Inve to Sarah (Hodgson) Day Terrier and Jules Thomas Terrier. He had siblings Rose Annie Terrier, Margaret Clarice (Terrier) Farrar, Nicholas Sholto Terrier, Julies Robert Terrier, Stella Terrier, and Alfred Florentine Terrier. John Terrier died at age 86 years old in 1961 in Geelong.

In 1918, he was 43 years old when on November 11th, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany, ending the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. This meant a complete defeat of Germany although Germany never formally surrendered. It took another six months of negotiations to sign an actual peace treaty between the warring parties.
