John Gerald Fitzgerald of Melbourne Australia was born in 1890 in Landsborough to Annie Carrigg Fitzgerald. He had a brother Thomas Fitzgerald. He married Hilda Marie (Richter) Fitzgerald, and had children Edward John Fitzgerald, Alma Sylvia, Eileen Hilda Fitzgerald, and Leslie Charles Fitzgerald. John Fitzgerald died at age 69 years old in 1959 in Parkville, VIC.

Attended by nearly 19.7 million people (and later the subject of a Judy Garland film), the Fair was funded by federal, state and local sources to the tune of $15 million.
