His mother Emily was born on March 23, 1884 in Bently, Illinois and grew up in Lanark, Rooks, Kansas, USA. She married Natahaniel in 1903 and they resided in Osborne, Kansas, USA. She passed away on June 10, 1963 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. His father Nathaniel was born on March 24, 1877 in Moulton, Appanoose County, Iowa and grew up in West Grove, Davis, Iowa. He was an Attorney at Law in Osborne, Osborne, Kansas, USA and had completed at least five years of college. He passed away on November 16, 1943 in Esbon, Jewell County, Kansas.

    John had a brother named Saint Elmo "Nemo" Else (1905-1976). He was a high school and college graduate of the University of Kansas who also completed some Post-graduate work. In August 1969, Mrs. Else executed an instrument of gift for these papers. The personal papers of John Hubert Else consist of a few letters, programs, booklets, newspaper clippings, certificates, army discharge papers, invitations, snapshots, photographs, notebook and other materials. The papers are arranged alphabetically by subject.
