John Katella,age 60,of Englewood,NJ,formerly of Baldwin Borough,passed away on Friday,April 29,2016 in his home. Born August 4,1955 he was the son of the late Alphonse C. Katella and Mary Elizabeth Halchin Katella. John was a graduate of Baldwin High School and continued his education earning a Bachelor's degree in music education from Carlow University. John was currently employed by United Airlines,over his career with the airline he served them in several positions. He was with their customer service department at the time of his passing. John's true passion and gift was his voice. He was blessed with an incredible singing voice. Many of his family and friend experienced his ability at family events,and sadly one of these was his own mother's funeral mass. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. He leaves behind to cherish his memory;his brother Richard M. Katella and his wife Kathleen of Zelienople;his sisters;Barbara Lemme of Sonoma,CA and Mary Ann Young of Las Vegas,NV. One nephew;Christopher Katella his godson,and two nieces;Kimberly Schlemmer and Kayla Katella. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Charles Lemme and his nephew Keith Young. The family of John Katella will receive friends at The Boylan Funeral Home 324 E. Grandview Ave. Zelienople,PA on Friday May 27,2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorial services will follow at 8:30 P.M. with Rev. Ronald W. Cepek officiating. John will be laid to rest with his family in St. Casimir Cemetery.
