Introduction

In the 1885 Iowa State Census, John Kendall is a 14 year old, white, single male. He was born in Iowa of parents who were both born in Iowa. He lives with his father, Gustavus, his step-mother Mary C. Kendall, his sister Minnie, a step-brother and sister, Franklin and Agnes Kendall, and James Brown the brother of Mary C. (Brown) Kendall, on Main Street, Alta, Buena Vista County, Iowa. [GSK 11.] In the 1900 U. S. Federal Census, John G. Kendall is a 29 year old, white, married male. He is married to Caroline Kendall to whom he has been married since 1883, seven years.. John was born in Iowa of parents who were born in Illinois (father) and Ohio (mother). His occupation is that of bar tender, who has not been unemployed. He reads, writes, and speaks English. He rents his own home. He lives with his wife, Anna E. Strand Kendall, and a son, Gus D., in Montesano, Chehalis County, Washington. [JDK 01.] Buried: John G. Kendall is buried in a graved purchased by his father, Gustavus S. Kendall on 10 Sept 1891 in Wynooche Cemetery, Montesano, Chehalis County (Grays Harbor), Washington; his grave is in First Edition, Block 8, grave 3. [DLL.]
