John Matuszak 1917 - 2005

John Matuszak was born on August 29, 1917 to Steve Matuszak and Julia (Stanczak) Matuszak, and had siblings Stella T Tuel and Ann (Matuszak) Papineau. He married Stella (Abram) Matuszak on February 7, 1947, and they were married until Stella's death in 1982. He had children Jane Matuszak, James Matuszak, and Jack Matuszak. John Matuszak died at age 87 years old on August 19, 2005 at His Home in Michigan City, LaPorte County, Indiana United States, and was buried on August 23, 2005 at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery 1015 Johnson Rd, in Michigan City.

    Mr. John S. Matuszak, 87, of Michigan City, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at 5 a.m. at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Michigan City to Steven and Julia (Stanzczak) Matuszak. Mr. Matuszak had retired as a dealer for Blue Chip Casino. He had been owner of Michigan City Recreation from 1948-53 and had owned Rosebowl Lanes for 26 years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Men's Society and American Legion Skwiat Post 451. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. On Feb. 7, 1947, in Michigan City, he married Stella Abram, who died June 4, 1982. One sister, Stella Tuel, also preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Jane of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, James (Kathy) of Traverse City, Mich., and Jack of Michigan City; two granddaughters, Natalie and Diana; and one sister, Ann Papineau of Long Beach. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Michigan City, with Rev. Ed Kaminski officiating. Friends may call at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, today from 4 to 8 p.m., with American Legion Skwiat Post 451 conducting a memorial service at 7 p.m. and St. Joseph Young Men's Society reciting the rosary at 7:30 p.m.; and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, with full military services conducted by American Legion Skwiat Post 451. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 109 Ann St., Michigan City, IN 46360
