    John M. Koltick was born on Christmas Eve December 24, 1924 in Pennsylvania to parents Frank Koltyk (1891-1960 and Barbara Koltick (1889-1941). He had siblings including Stanley (1915-1931), Andrew (1922-2000), and Joseph Koltick (1924-1984). He grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania enlisted in the military on October 21, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During his military service, Koltick was assigned to the Navy, making him a veteran of World War II. He served in lighter-than-air (blimps) escorting US and merchant ships in the Atlantic theater. John worked as a baker and worked for J&L Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was married to Margaret Rose Koltick and tehy had children together Cynthia K and John M Koltick.

At the time of his enlistment, he held the rank of Private in the Selectees (enlisted men) category. His terms of enlistment were "for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law." This meant that he would serve until the end of World War II or until the government determined that his services were no longer needed. During his military service, Koltick was assigned to the Navy, making him a veteran of World War II. He served in lighter-than-air (blimps) escorting US and merchant ships in the Atlantic theater.

    Age 86, of Upper St. Clair, on Sunday, June 19, 2011. Loving husband of Margaret Rose (Coss) Koltick for 64 years; proud father of Cynthia K. Schneider (Stephen) and John M. Koltick, Jr. (Kim); grandfather of Alexandra and Lauren Schneider and Major Scott Koltick, USMC (Charlotte), Nicole Koltick, Kristin Koltick-Brockett (Adam) and Andrea Fink (Douglas), and great-grandfather of Liam, Hannah, Colin, Jackson and Jacob. John was a WWII Navy veteran who served in lighter-than-air (blimps) escorting US and merchant ships in the Atlantic theater. He worked for J&L Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1979. Funeral Services are private. John will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any random act of kindness for a stranger, as John was a generous and giving man.
