He was a carpenter for several construction companies in Helena and then went on to buy his own business, Professional Lawn Care, in 2005.

    The following obituary was published in Helena's Independent Record, June 23, 2005: John Paul Stowell left this life on June 19, 2005, at the age of 31. He was born in Helena. Throughout his life he also lived in Germany, Guam and had the opportunity to travel to many other places. John Paul graduated from Helena High School in 1992. He was a carpenter for several construction companies in Helena and then went on to buy his own business, Professional Lawn Care, in 2005. He had a great passion for riding motorcycles. Some of his other passions were snow and water skiing, softball, and golf. John Paul was great at everything he did. He touched the lives of everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. He is survived by his son, Draven, of Kent, Wash.; mother, Jane Palmer Hahn; stepfather, Chris Hahn; sister, Janie Jo Stowell; fiancée, Jillian Carlson; aunt and uncle, Pal and Kate Palmer; aunt, Gail Smith; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Stowell; grandfather, Al Palmer; and grandmother, Gene Stowell. John Paul will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at the home of his uncle, Pal Palmer, on Hill Crest Drive off of Sawmill Road in Montana City, at 6 p.m. Friday June 24. Memorials should go to Golden Triangle Mental Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1653 Great Falls, MT 59403-1653 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Montana Chapter, 1601 2nd Ave. North, Great Falls, MT 59401. Retz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
