  • Introduction

    John Petherick Lapthorne, born 24th May, 1819, was the third of six children. One brother went to NY, USA. A brother and a sister ended up in Tasmania. A sister remained in England. John and one of his brothers migrated to South Australia, with John later moving to Victoria after the birth of his fourth child. His wife was Charlotte Emery. They had thirteen children. Edward Thomas was their eleventh child. John Petherick lived at Naringalingalook and is buried in the nearby Numurkah cemetery, Victoria.
