Professor J. P. Lacroix
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Professor J. P. LACROIX which was taken at the T. A. Beach Studio in Delaware, OH sometime in the 1870's. The professor appears to be in his 40's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding the Professor and his family:
John Powers or Power LACROIX was b. 24 Feb 1833 in Haverhill, OH to parents Alexander LACROIX (1809-1873) and Rebecca POWERS or POWER (1798-1860). John was one of 7 children born to this couple including, John Powers; Cecilia W.; Michael; Elizabeth P.; Mary J.; Margaret; and Rebecca Maria or Maria Rebecca LACROIX, all born between 1833 and 1850. John married Corintha A. IRWIN (1837-1878) and together they had a daughter, Gertrude LACROIX (b. 1873). John died 22 Sept 1879 in Athens, OH and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, OH.
I am hoping to locate someone from this LACROIX Family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
