  • Introduction

    The Age, Melbourne. 8th August 1857. STICKING-UP. - On Tuesday night last, about the hour of ten o'clock, Mr. Pulbrook, ginger beer manufacturer, Autumn-street, Ashby, was stuck up on the dam by three scoundrels, and robbed of the sum of £32, in notes and silver. The money he kept in his trowsers' pocket, and when pounced upon and his money demanded, he seized the notes and refused to give them up until roughly handled and threatened with violence, when he gave way. The thieves then rifled his pockets of his loose silver and defamed with their booty.

    The Geelong Advertiser. Victoria, 23rd July 1860. At his residence in Autumn-street, Ashby, on the 21st July, 1860, at the advanced age of 74, Mr. John Pulbrook, senior, father-in-law of Mr. Joseph Lewis, of Wolmers.
