    John Stephen LeWay Jr. was born in Clarence Pennsylvania to John Stephen Leway Sr. (1886-1971) and Mary Verna Zewalk (1894-1985) and had five siblings including Joseph Henry (1916-1986), Andy (born 1919), and William Edward (1928-1993), and a half sibling Theodore J. Leway (1922-1971). He married Bernadine Marita Golub (1919-1997) and they had two children including John David LeWay who was born in 1946 and passed away in 2016. John was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War 2 and a recipient of a Purple Heart.
