    jt mattox was the father of twelve children he served as chairman of the board of deacon at Antioch Baptist for many years as well as school bus driver for more than 28 years.he served in the us army for three yerrs while send ing almost his entire check home to his newly wed bride,bessie to, be saved for future needs.when jt got out of the army he purshed over 400 acres from the Charles allen estate.land that had been the home of his grand parents wyatt and mary mattox in slavery.jt mattox loved his family very much.he taught all six of his boys the fundamentals of Christian living and the pursuit of excellence in life'jt mattox was a stern parent and did not spare the rod and his kids knew it.the six girls had just as much responsibility as did the boys but Bessie did intervene in much of their activities.jt and Bessie mattox was very much interested in education and equality for all.the both served on naacp and mary other community affairs.all of the mattox children were able to attain colleges degrees while many of them attained advanced degrees.
