    John Wesley Woodward was born to Peter W. Woodward Sr. (1884 - 1976) and Bertha Cloe Bartlett (1885 - 1951). He had siblings Jessie Mae, Cleo C., Kenneth James, Edward Wilson, Beulah C. "Bootsie", Robert Westley (sic), Peter J. Jr., Charles Richard, Marjorie Jane, and Albert Clare Woodward Sr. A survivor of Pearl Harbor, John Woodward was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served from February 1941 through September 1945. John Woodward married Pearl "Pris" Hall (born 1924) on March 24, 1945. They had two children, John W. Woodward, Jr. and Deborah Woodward.
