John Waite 1831 - 1903

John Waite was born in 1831 in Ireland to Joshua Waite and Mary Jane Halliday. He was in a relationship with Jane (Bell) Waite, and had children Jane Bell (Waite) Macreadie, Sarah Anne Waite, William Waite, Elizabeth Frances (Waite) Trebilco, Thomas Henry Waite, and Joshua Waite. John Waite died at age 71 years old on December 24, 1903 in Glengarry, VIC Australia, and was buried at Toongabbie Cemetery in Toongabbie, Latrobe City County.

  • Introduction

    Arrived at Port Albert around 1852. - The Traralgon Record. Victoria. 25th December 1903.- The many friends of Mr. John Waite will regret to learn of his death, which took place this morning. Deceased had been an invalid for some lengthy period, but it was only a few days ago, from what I can learn, that he took a bad turn. His remains will be interred in the Toongabbie Cemetery on Saturday.

    The Weekly Times, Melbourne. 9th January 1904. Mr. John Waite, one of the pioneers of the Glengarry district, died last week in his 73rd year. Deceased landed at Port Albert 51 years ago from Belfast, Ireland, and first lived at Rosedale. About 35 years ago he took up land at Glengarry, being one of the first settlers in that district, and where he has since resided continuously.
