John Wilbur Lundvall was born on April 17, 1917 in Ronan, Montana to parents Oscar C Lundvall (1878-1950) and Ruth Browning (1896-1968). He had siblings Mildred, Marie Ellen, Carl Oscar, Betty Ruth, Verda May, Bud Geoffrey, Frieda B, Dixie Lee, and William H Lundvall. They grew up in Horte, Missoula, Montana, USA. He lived in Mission, Lake, Montana, USA and moved to Edgewood, Siskiyou, California, USA in the 1940's. A few years later he enlisted on March 24, 1942 in Seattle Washington. On February 15, 1947 he married Dorothy Pearl Brown Moore Lundvall (1921-2013) in Clark, Washington. The couple lived in Portland, Oregon.
