Jose "Joe" Tamez Jr. (February 7, 1982) Obituary Jose "Joe" Tamez, Jr. of Porterville, beloved son, brother and father passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the age of 29. Jose was born on February 7, 1981 in Lindsay, California to Jose and Rosa Maria Tamez, the youngest of 5 children. He was raised in Woodville, California where he attended Woodville Elementary and attended church at Woodville Church Of The Nazarene. His family then moved to Porterville where he attended and graduated from Monache High School in 1999. After High School he was briefly joined with Stacie Ward and out of that union came a son, Jose Tamez, III, known by everyone as JT. Jose had two passions, the first one being cooking, which the family both benefited in terms of enjoying many culinary delights, and suffered in ever increasing waist lines. He applied this passion as an employee of Panda Express in Porterville. He was also employed at Denny's and Juicy Burger, which is owned by his cousin Freddy Quijas. Jose's second passion was the Dallas Cowboys, which was a focus of ongoing intense rivalry among family and friends, all in good fun of course. To Jose, there was no other team. For a day, his family and friends will join him as fans of the Cowboys and display their loyalty by wearing his team colors, He was often quoted with saying, "Someday, everybody will be a Cowboys fan". On Monday Joe, you get your wish. Jose is survived by his son, Jose Tamez, III of Porterville (JT); companion, Crystle Varney; his parents, Jose and Rosa Tamez; four sisters, Elva Crowder and husband John, Angelica Castillo and husband Roman, Juanita Hernandez and partner Larry "Spud" Aaron and Beatriz Gallegos and husband Sergio; nieces and nephews, Lisa and John Crowder, Arthur Castillo, Elizabeth and Tiffany Garcia, Jasmine, Ariel and Bella Gallegos; he is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends. Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM. A graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 1:00 PM. The family wishes to extend a thank you to family and friends, Panda Express, Smith's Flowers, Juicy Burger and all other businesses for their kindness, support and generous donations.
