Joseph Tavares was caucasian of Portuguese decent. His parents I believe was born in Soa Miguel Azores. He had one bother who is deceased, And two sisters, one is still living . He was married and had 3 children. All living .

Joseph was born in New Bedford, but raised in the Azores. He came back to New Bedford at age 21 and lived with his grandmother till his marriage. He couldn’t read or write or speak much in English, as he was fluent in Portuguese, he was a loving family man and spent most of his time with family, he loved taking his children to the beach, fishing and walks . He grew he own vegetables. He always had talks about life with his kids. He didn’t believe in nursing homes…as he believed in taking care of your family at home. He loved life though it was short lived. He also loved animals and going to his brother’s farm . He died unexpectedly at home from a stroke though he was ill for and long time before the stroke.
