Joseph Alois Loutocky of Gresham, Multnomah County, Oregon was born on March 14, 1896 to Joseph F. Loutocky and Anna S. Loutocky. He had siblings Rose F. Tichy, Lydia R. Svoboda, Betty S. Vaughn, Frank Loutocky, Aldrich J. Loutocky, and Anna Marie Von Striver. Joseph Loutocky died at age 75 years old in May 1971.

In 1909, Joseph was just 13 years old when the U.S. penny was changed to the Abraham Lincoln design. The Lincoln penny was so popular that it soon had to be rationed and it sold on the secondary market for a quarter. Abraham Lincoln was the first historical figure to be on a U.S. coin - which was released to commemorate his 100th birthday. This penny was also the first U.S. cent to include the words "In God We Trust.".
