This obituary is from The South Bend Tribune, South Bend, Indiana, October 3, 1979: "Services for Joseph P. Bigora, 85, of Rt. 2, who died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, at Perry County Memorial Hospital, Tell City, after an illness of six months, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hamlet. Rev. Anthony Ficko, pastor of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Knox, will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hamlet, with military services conducted by the Hamlet American Legion Post 356. He was born in Poland on January 25, 1894, and came to the Knox community 45 years ago from Chicago. He was a retired farmer. On June 6, 1925, in Chicago, he married Sophia Witowski. She died on November 13, 1965. He is survivied by two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Thurmann of Jesup, Ga., and Mrs. Helen Bower of Leopold, Indiana; a son, Richard of Knox, 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a sister and a brother, both in Poland. He was a member of World War Veterans Barracks of North Judson, the Hamlet American Legion Post 356, and the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hamlet."ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
