  • Introduction

    Joseph served in the military during the Civil War, reaching rank of Brig. General inspite of being a P.O.W. for awhile. Surviving photos of him in uniform still exist showing him with dark brown hair and sporting a moustache. He was about 69 inches tall. He wed twice, 1st on Oct.4,1854 to Cordelia M. Scott, b. 1828 & d. July 22,1858. He wed 2nd on Nov.28,1865 to Mary P. Hill, b. 1838 & d. 1918 in Davenport, Ia. Some records say that he had children. But no obituary of him is listed as having any children.
