    seph C. Reitano, 78. . . Hardware Store Owner OBITUARIES May 27, 1994 TAVARES — MR. REITANO, 1428 Mohawk Circle, Lake Frances Estates, Tavares, died Wednesday, May 25. He was a hardware store owner. Born in Hillsville, Pa., he moved to Central Florida in 1984. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Dora. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: wife, Jenny K.; son, Anthony, Fort Lauderdale; daughter, Rosemari Moss, Hendersonville, N.C.; one sister. Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Directors, Tavares.

In 1916, in the year that Joseph C Reitano was born, suffragette Jeannette Pickering Rankin became the first woman elected to the House of Representatives as a Representative at large from Montana. She was the first woman to hold an elected Federal office. Holding the office for two years, she ran again in 1940 and served another two year term. Montana had granted women unrestricted voting rights in 1914, 6 years before women got the vote nationally.
