Joseph Montano died at age 85 years old on August 15, 2006 at 2 Lakeview Dr, in White Plains, and was buried on August 19, 2006 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 10 W Stevens Ave, in Hawthorne.

    Joseph H. Montano, a White Plains resident, died August 15, 2006. He was 85. He was born April 28, 1921 to William and Clara Montano. Joseph graduated from Cathedral Prep and received his MBA from NYU. He also served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He worked for many years for IBM as a Systems Analyst and retired in 1983. In 1949, he married Sally McIntyre. Besides his wife Sally of White Plains, he is survived by two daughters, Sally Ann Montano of White Plains and Maureen Giangrande of Greenwich, CT; his brother Andrew and sisters, Clara, Mary and Joan. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Danny, Gillian and Will. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, at 10 am, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association , Hudson Valley Chapter, 785 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605. In 1921, in the year that Joseph Henry Montano was born, the silent film The Sheik, directed by George Melford and starring Rudolph Valentino and Agnes Ayres (also featuring Adolphe Menjou) debuted on October 21st. Critics weren't enthusiastic but the public loved it - in the first few weeks 125,000 people had seen the movie - and it eventually exceeded $1 million in ticket sales. And Rudolph Valentino, an Italian American, became the heartthrob of a female generation.
Did you know?
In 1937, at the age of 16 years old, Joseph was alive when on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
