  • Introduction

    Joseph Tesoriere was born on January 10, 1912, in Italy to Salvatore Tesoriere and Christina Palma. He had siblings, including Christina Triola, Marian Bonura, Gary Tesoriere, and Frank Tesoriere. When Joseph was eight years old, his family immigrated to the United States and settled in New York. During World War II, Joseph served in the United States military and enlisted on December 5, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey. He was stationed at Hg 4 Hq Det. Wash. D.C Oss (5Th) Inf and was eventually promoted to the rank of Cpl T 5. After three years of service, Joseph was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945. After returning to civilian life, Joseph was known for his work as a skilled bricklayer in Queens. Joseph married Jennie J Tesoriere on October 9, 1946, in Brooklyn and the couple had a son, Joseph F Tesoriere. The family resided in East Paterson, Bergen, New Jersey.

He was promoted to the rank of Cpl T 5 at some point during his service, although the exact date is not specified in his military records. Joseph served for three years before being discharged on October 23, 1945.

    Joseph Tesoriere, of Forest Hills, Queens, a former bricklayer, died of leukemia at Engelwood Hospital in Engelwood, N.J., on Tuesday. He was 78. Mr. Tesoriere was born in Sicily and immigrated to the United States when he was 8. He settled in Brooklyn and was a bricklayer in Queens. Mr. Tesoriere is survived by his daughter, Christina Albano of Tenafly, N.J.; grandchildren, Michael Albano, Ashley and Graham Sheen; sisters, Christina Triola and Marian Bonura of Carle Place; and brothers Gary Tesoriere of East North-port and Frank Tesoriere of Hicksville. Services were held Wednesday at the Barrett Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Tenafly. Burial was held Thursday at Brookside Cemetery in Engelwood. Newsday (Suffolk Edition) Melville, New York ยท Saturday, January 20, 1990
