2 generation Italian Godfather and amazing artist, sculptor
Joseph was an old family friend of ours. He was a mentor to and the reason why my Mom became an artist. He was rumored to have pursued my grandmother a very long time ago, LOL. But then also spent some time involved with my great Aunt. When my Mother was born he went to the hospital and the nurse wasn't going to let him in because she said he had to be a family member. He yelled at the nurse and said I AM THIS CHILD'S GODFATHER and you will let me see her!! So ever since then he was the family godfather. Joe taught me how to make the perfect spaghetti sauce when I was a little kid. He'd always put a whole bay leaf in it and say whoever got the bay leaf was his/their true love. He always told us we were special and reminded us to remember how special we were all the time. He was only truly happy when he was in love. A true artist. He painted backdrops for movies I'm guessing after the War and later? I'm trying to find any old pictures with him in the credits. I know he made some sculptures at Knott's Berry Farm in Anaheim. There was a courtyard by the old gold panning station with a donkey, saloon girls and miners sitting on benches. Those were his work. He graduated to magnificent bronze sculptures that were mostly Cowboy and Indian scenes with horses; plenty of action. He was always a shining light in the sweetest soul. He was truly missed by many in our family when he passed.
