He was my dad. His had not been living in Seattle, only visiting his oldest son Bill. He had lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for several years. He was a rock hound and amateur photographer. He was a retired Union Carpenter and had been the assistance businessman for his local in Redding, California. His first wife and mother of his ten children (née Myrtie Kellogg) died on January 4, 1949. He remarried to Phyllis in Stevenson, Washington in August 1950. Shortly afterward they moved to Redding, California where he worked on a bridge below Shasta Dam on the Sacramento River. He fell 40 feet breaking his back in several places and was in a body cast for quite some time afterwards. He recovered and continued working. He was a member of the church of the Nazarene and served as a board member and Sunday school teacher. He was the chairman of the board of the Buckeye school district just north of Redding from 1953-1962. He was a Democrat politically and supported JFK. He died of a massive heart attack at his daughter Joyce's house in Mission Hills California and was buried next to two of his sons ( Ned & Pat) in Redding, California.
