Joseph Love died at age 79 years old on June 4, 1971 in Toorak, Stonnington City County, and was buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, 600 Princes Hwy, in Springvale, Greater Dandenong City County.

In 1891, in the year that Joseph Seymour Love was born, from March 9th through the 12th, a blizzard hit the south and west of England. Called the Great Blizzard of 1891, it led to snow drifts of up to 15 feet and killed 200 people and 6,000 animals. Fourteen ships sank.

In 1918, he was 27 years old when on November 11th, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany, ending the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. This meant a complete defeat of Germany although Germany never formally surrendered. It took another six months of negotiations to sign an actual peace treaty between the warring parties.
