Personal Life & Family

Joseph Thomas Novak Jr. was born on January 14th, 1929 to Joseph Thomas Novak Sr. and Ella Machinsky, and had two sisters Jeanette and Florence. On his World War II draft registration card which he filed in January 1947, Joseph described himself as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a 'light' complexion, blonde hair, blue eyes, weighing 150 pounds, and having a scar on his right knee. Nine years later on May 19th, 1956, when Joseph was working as a transformer coil winder, he married payroll clerk Anne Caroline McFadden in Virginia. The couple went on to have a son, Joseph S. Sr., and a daughter Kathleen. At the time of his passing Joseph was survived by a grandson. See Joseph T Novak: Obituary for more details.

JOSEPH T NOVAK, 61, of Delran, died Thursday at his home. Born in Elyria, Ohio, Mr. Novak had lived in Philadelphia before moving to Delran 34 years ago. He was a veteran of the Korean War and had worked for General Electric Company in Philadelphia for 40 years as a transformer repairman. Survivors: his wife, Caolyn McFadden Novak; a son, Joseph S. Sr. of Burlington City; a daugher, Kathleen Novak of Delran; a grandson, and two sisters, Jeanette Young of Broomall, Pennsylvania and Florence Meyer of Blackwood. Services: viewing, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. today, Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Brideboro St., Riverside; Liturgy, 10 a.m. today, St. Casimir's Church, 502 New Jersey Avenue, Riverside; burial, Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. - The Philadelphia Inquirer (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) Saturday, September 1, 1990 on page 5.

Joseph T. Novak of Chicago

My mother, Aline, was briefly married to a Joseph T. Novak in 1935. They married on January 2 and Joseph left on February 1st, a month later, and they thereafter lived separately. Interestingly, their divorce was not granted until November 6, 1941. I am trying to find information on Mr. Novak and any details regarding his marriage to my mother.
