Joseph Ward Simmons was born on November 14, 1964 in Hollis, Queens County, New York United States to Evelyn Jane Simmons and Daniel Dwayne Simmons Sr., and has siblings Daniel Dwayne Simmons Jr. and Russell Wendell Simmons. He married Valerie Anne Vaughn in 1983 in New York City, New York County and they later divorced in 1992 in New York City. They had children Vanessa Jean Simmons, Angela Wendy Simmons, and Joseph Ward Simmons Jr.. He would also marry Justine Felicia Simmons on June 25, 1994 in Queens, Queens County. They had children Daniel Dwayne Simmons III, Russell Wendell Simmons II, Victoria Anne Simmons, and Miley Justine Simmons.
