Josephine Gioffre Bochicchio, beloved mother and grandmother, died peacefully with her daughters by her side on Friday, February 2 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Bochicchio. She was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on November 17, 1917 and at the age of 19 settled in Port Chester, NY. She is survived by her two daughters and sonsin-law, Ann Marie and David Lamp, Sr., Frances and Ken Dworczyk; her grandchildren, David Lamp, Jr. and his wife, Sonia, Brian Lamp, K.J. Dworczyk and his wife, Emily, Stephanie, Jason and Michael Dworczyk and her two great grandchildren, Allyson and Talisa Lamp. In addition, she is survived by her brothers, Anthony and Joseph Gioffre; sister, Angelina Gioffre; sisters-in-law, Betty and Modesta Gioffre; Carmella and Caroline Bochicchio; and Catherine and Vito Bucino; and many nieces and nephews. Prior to her move to Connecticut in 1997, she was a volunteer at United Hospital for 10 years. Calling hours at Gunipero Funeral Home on Westchester Avenue, Port Chester, NY on Monday from 5-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be held at Corpus Christi Church on Tuesday morning at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may send donations to the American Lung Association. The Journal News (White Plains, New York) Monday, February 05, 2001

My mom's dear friend

My mom, Agnes Sacco, and "Jo Boch" were very good friends as girls growing up in Port Chester. She talked about Jo through the many years and was sad when she moved, we moved, the address book got lost and they lost touch. My mother never stopped talking about Josephine and wishing she could find her. As I write this, I see them in my minds eye with arms looped together, singing as they walked to Rye Beach along with another best friend, Esther Luce. If any of her relatives see this, yes, I have pictures!
