Josephine F (Kennington) Cotton was born on February 25, 1880 in Coffee Springs, Geneva County, Alabama United States to Callie Baxley and Colen James Kennington, and had siblings Elizabeth Kennington, Jefferson Kennington, Newton Kennington, Fannie Kennington, and Minnie Kennington. She was in a relationship with Walter Allen Cotton, and had children Kate Cotton, Fox Lee Cotton, D L Cotton, Mozella Cotton, Richard Cotton, James O Cotton, Homer Cotton, and Fannie Mae Cotton. Josephine Cotton died at age 62 years old on January 27, 1943 in Winter Park, Orange County, FL, and was buried at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Samson, Geneva County, AL.
