Josephine (Lockhart) Bone of Melbourne, Vic Australia was born on August 11, 1855 in Stoke-on-Trent, Stoke-on-Trent County, England United Kingdom to Charles Lockhart and Ann Heyward. She had siblings Charles Henry Lockhart, Agnes Jane Lockhart, Lucy Lockhart, Frederick Robert Lockhart, Henry Lockhart, Emma Mary Angela Lockhart, Myra Lockhart, Gertrude Lockhart, George Provost Lockhart, Bertha Marion Lockhart, and Beatrice Mary Lockhart. Josephine was baptized on March 5, 185 in Stoke-on-Trent. She married Frederick Henry Bone on April 24, 1880 and they later divorced in 1892. They had children Gertrude Muriel Lockhart Bone and Edith Dorothy Lockhart (Bone) Davy. Josephine's partner was George Dennis Trevelyan John Bone, and they were together until death separated them on January 31, 1898. They had a child Hugh Trevelyan John. Josephine Bone died at age 45 years old circa 1900.

    Married Frederick Bone in 1880 at Melbourne, Australia and had two daughters Gertrude Muriel Lockhart Bone 1886-1901, and Edith Dorothy Lockhart Bone 1890-1953 (died Calgary, Canada). Divorced in 1892. Had a son Hugh Trevelyan John, known as Charles Trivellionscott with George Dennis Trevelyan John in 1895. G D T John died 1898 so Josephine left with 2 daughters and 1 son. HU was placed with a family 'Mundy'. CAnnot find wher or when Josephine died. Edith sailed to England in 1909 so presume Josephine may have been deceased by then??

In 1855, in the year that Josephine (Lockhart) Bone was born, on March 3rd, Congress appropriated $30,000 to create the U.S. Camel Corps. The idea was to use camels as pack animals in the Southwest and 34 camels were bought. But the Army wasn't enthusiastic about the idea and after the Civil War the Camel Corps was entirely abandoned.
