    In the 1930 census, Jolanda (sic) was 10 and living with parents Frank and Diana as well as siblings Frank, 20, Adelaide, 15, Joseph, 13, Vincent 11, Diana, 6 and Wayne, 4 in Geneva NY. Frank owned the home, worth $7000. He was a construction contractor in road construction. According to the 1940 census, Joyce lived with her parents - Frank Balistreri, 63, and Diana Balistreri, 53 - her sister Diana, 16, and brother Wayne, 14, in Geneva NY. Her parents were born in Italy and all 3 children were born in New York. Father Frank said the he was unable to work. Joyce Balistreri married Rocco D Commesso on Sept 9 1940 in Geneva NY. They had 4 sons: Anthony, Francis, Dominic, and Joseph. "Rocky" was a veteran of WW2 and they owned and operated the Commesso Restaurant (closed 1963).     From The Citizen on Jan. 17, 2008 GENEVA < Joyce M. Commesso, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at the Demay Living Center. Joyce was born Jan. 6, 1920 in Geneva. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Diana (Sasso) Balistreri. Joyce was co-owner and operator of Commesso"s Restaurant with her husband, Rocky, for many years. Afterwards, Joyce and her husband did all of the cooking for Moonlight Bowling at the Town and Country Bowling Lanes until their retirement. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed playing cards and golf. Joyce was a member of St. Stephen"s Church. She is survived by her sons, Anthony (Sandie) Commesso, of Auburn, Francis (Jeannie) Commesso, of Fairport, Dominic (Mary) Commesso, of Winter Springs, Fla. and Joseph (Lou Ann) Commesso, of Geneva; brother, Wayne Balistreri, of Geneva; sister, Diana Jacondin, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased in 1990 by her husband, Rocco "Rocky" Commesso; brother, Frank Balistreri; and sisters, Anna Mattocchi, Frances Gigliotti, Angelina Rodono, Cecelia Mortellaro, Adelaide Gaglianese and Josephine Terminelli. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Palmisano Funeral Home, where a prayer service will follow visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated afterwards at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen"s Roman Catholic Church, Pulteney Street, Geneva. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
