    BUTTROSE Julian Charles William 8.8.1938 – 6.6.2022 Julian peacefully passed away at home in the arms of his family. Beloved husband to Heather and wonderful father to Angie and Rebecca and their husbands Paul and Paulie. Much loved brother to Ita, William (dec), Charles and sisters-in-law Leanne and Elizabeth. Adored grandfather to Milo, Chester, Arki, Cy and Leo. A great and caring family man and friend, he leaves us all with many treasured memories. A private cremation will take place with a memorial to be held at a later date.

In 1938, in the year that Julian Buttrose was born, on June 25th (a Saturday) the Fair Labor Standards Act was signed into law by President Roosevelt (along with 120 other bills). The Act banned oppressive child labor, set the minimum hourly wage at 25 cents, and established the maximum workweek at 44 hours. It faced a lot of opposition and in fighting for it, Roosevelt said "Do not let any calamity-howling executive with an income of $1,000 a day, ...tell you...that a wage of $11 a week is going to have a disastrous effect on all American industry."
