She was married to Alfred George Harding Hooley in 1904, and had children John "Jack" Maxwell Hooley, Alfred Maurice Sexton Hooley, Thomas Cyril Hooley, Kathleen Dardanella Hooley, and William Henry Hooley. Kathleen Hooley died at age 48 years old on July 17, 1931 in Warrnambool.

In 1882, in the year that Kathleen Sexton Hooley was born, on August 3rd, President Chester Arthur signed the 1882 Immigration Act. "Criminals, the insane, or any person unable to take care of him or herself" were not allowed in the U.S. according to the Act. It also imposed a "head tax" on non-citizens entering the U.S.

In 1894, at the age of only 12 years old, Kathleen was alive when large reserves of oil were discovered on the Osage Indian reservation in Oklahoma. Previously thought to be "useless" land - not even good for farming - the tribe had bought the land themselves. The discovery of oil made the Osage the "richest group of people in the world" at the time.
